About the house
The original house that we bought in 1995 consisted only of a small kitchen, a "den"/TV room and bathroom (where the first floor bedroom is now), the two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, all the land that you see today, and the glorious full-length bench on the front deck which is my favorite feature.

My family's re-model busted the kitchen out by ten feet because my Bolivian mother was a master cook and baker and needed A LOT of counter space. It also added a massive new "wing" that includes a real living room, two-car garage, and a master bedroom that is the envy of all who see it. We call it "the barn" because of its wide and warm open plan design.

From some of the wood remnants left by all of the construction, my mother - one of the most creative people I have ever known - crafted the bird sculpture that we use as a sort of totem for our family. The bird's shape is an homage to the magical realism of my mother's culture and life in Bolivia and Peru, where grew up, and remind my brother and me of our proud Latin heritage. You'll see the bird sculptures in the living room and in the barn, and the painted red bird on the tree at the head of the driveway that greets you when you arrive.
